Travis Logan

Travis Logan entertained us last night at Hickory Lake and what a superb performance he gave us all, with his lovely deep Country voice made for Country Music, it was so good to see him back at the club again, he interacted with his audience well and kept the dance floor busy, such a friendly lovely guy, we thank you Travis for a great evening and look forward to seeing you back again next year.
Roger and myself looked after the raffle this week and thank you Roger for taking part,and thank you to all who added prizes to the raffle table it’s much appreciated. As always we thank our wonderful team of Hickory Lake helpers and thanks to Phil who stepped in to help Bev in the canteen at the start of the evening in the absence of Chris, and also to Sandra who helped Jane in the canteen in the first break in the absence of Pru, your help is much appreciated, and to all our Hickory Lake team you all do a fantastic job in all that you each do for us and your club, and we are very grateful to you all.
Also to all our lovely supporters, we always look forward to seeing you all and we thank you all for the support you give to your club.

Ryan Payling

It was good to see the return of Ryan Payling on 23rd November at Hickory Lake with his lovely Scottish accent, and what a brilliant evening he gave us, he did a good mixture of songs and kept the dance floor busy all evening. He interacted with his audience well, but they had to listen very carefully to understand his lovely accent! Thank you Ryan for a great performance especially Old Soldier’s which we could hear your dad on the backing track, which was lovely, look forward to seeing you back again soon.
We had two Birthdays which were Val’s and Mick’s (Sarge) and we all wished them well and thank you for the chocolates that were bought round to celebrate. Roger and Sylve looked after the raffle this week and we thank you both for taking part you did a grand job, and we thank all who added prizes to the raffle table it’s much appreciated.
Many thanks again to Jane who sat with me at the start of the evening selling the Christmas tickets, which have now almost gone so thank you to everyone. To all our fantastic team of Hickory Lake helpers, we value and appreciate all your help you give to us and your club, from the very start to the very end of the evening, you are all ‘Simply the best’.
To all our supporters we thank you as always for all the support you give to your club, it’s always good to see you, and it was nice to see Eric back after his recent operation, you’re looking good Eric, well done.

Bolero

A brilliant night of classic Country from our old friends, local band, Bolero, still having a lot of fun and having a right rave up after 40 years together.
They certainly know how to get everyone going with their exciting brand of Country music.
It was great to see Tony Prettejohn back on drums and vocals joined by Duncan Lacey on steel and lead guitars, Nigel Buckingham on guitar and vocals and Dave Broome on bass and vocals.
With everyone doing their own thing on thing on the dance floor and a full house we all had a great time, with music from Merle Haggard, George Strait, Ricky Scaggs, Jim Reeves, Buddy Holly, The Everleys, The Eagles, The Bellamy’s, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Highway 101, Johnny Cash, Johnny Russell, Randy Travis and Dwight Yoakam, all great stuff.
Thanks to everyone for their support and Pam, Bill and Bev for the lovely refreshments.

Longshot

What a superb performance Longshot gave us all at Hickory Lake on 16th November, Glyn Long on drums and vocals and Lee Hodgson on guitar and vocals, they were excellent together and interacted with their audience well, doing many requests and keeping the dance floor busy all evening with line-dancers and freestylers alike. They gave us a great mix of songs, we thank you both for an excellent evening of entertainment, it all went far to quickly and we look forward to seeing you both back at the club again next year.
Dave and Sylve looked after the raffle this week and we thank you Sylve for taking part, and we thank all who added prizes to the raffle table it’s much appreciated. Many thanks to Jane who sat with me at the start of the evening selling the Christmas tickets, the time is just flying by, it doesn’t seem long since this happened last year!! The tickets will still be on sale next week, so don’t worry if you have not got your’s yet.
Our most grateful thanks to all our super team of Hickory Lake helpers you are all first class in all that you each do for us and your club, from the start of the evening, throughout the evening and at the very end, we appreciate you all and cannot thank you all enough for what you all do. Darren Flack

It was different at the start of the evening at Hickory Lake on 9th November with being Remembrance Sunday. We started with Mick (Sarge) reading a poem and the Citation, then we had 2 minutes silence followed by Sid singing a beautiful Tom Jones song ‘I won’t Crumble if you fall’ which he did superbly, then for the finish we had the Last Post played. We thank you all for taking part and Roger & Howard also, it was a fitting mark of respect and you all did so well, we thank you.
We then had a change of Act due to Cliff Weston being unwell, we wish him all the best for a speedy recovery…It was Darren Flack who stood in at very short notice and we were not disappointed, you were absolutely brilliant Darren and what a guitarist, you gave us all a great evening and you made that guitar sing! All the feedback we had was excellent and we thank you once again for stepping in, we hope to see you back at Hickory Lake again in the future.

Dan Thornhill

We had the return of Dan Thornhill at Hickory Lake last on 2nd November and it was so good to see him come bouncing back into his music after a serious issue with his health earlier this year. What a great young man Dan is, so friendly and professional, he interacted with his audience so well and they loved him, giving some ‘Thornhill’ jokes along the way!!
Dan you were superb and we thank you for a brilliant evening and we look forward to seeing you back at the club again next year.
